Vine House comes with a stellar pedigree. Paul Whittome, owner of the popular Hoste Arms Hotel, had been looking to buy another hotel for about three years, and was keen to find a new spot in Burnham Market. 'My intention', he says, 'was to create the finest boutique hotel outside of London, and by being simply a stone's throw across the green from the Hoste Arms, it enables me to keep more control in every way, including from a management and marketing point of view.'

'I'm very excited about Vine House and my wife, Jeanne, has done a tremendous job styling the interiors.' Jeanne has embraced the Georgian period in her styling. 'I love the balance and symmetry it offered; a fashionable Georgian house in fine surroundings and comfortable in style. It has seven luxury bedrooms, all slightly different, fabulous Fired Earth bathrooms, and a charming, walled garden. 'Vine House has luxurious bathrooms and space – lots of it! Special bed linen, great mirrors and fantastic lighting. I think it's so important that the bathroom is beautifully tiled and maintained, with plenty of thick towels and tons of hanging space.

Linda Phelan, Regional Sales Designer from Fired Earth has worked with Jeanne for a number of years on various projects at The Hoste Arms, upgrading bathrooms within the main hotel, the recent new bathrooms and wine cellar in the basement and the Moroccan garden and terrace.

'I really like working with Jeanne because she has real vision, and is not afraid to put her thoughts and ideas into practice. She knows what she likes and what she doesn't. She is a straight-talking kind of woman!

'She was very excited when she first came to me with her plans for Vine House. She knows what her guests want, she understands the hotel business and she is always fair and open to suggestions. I believe we have worked well together because of this. Jeanne likes designs with the 'wow' factor, and when she asked me to help design her bathrooms for Vine House this is exactly what she wanted.

'All the bathrooms had to be slightly individual, but also in keeping with the history of the house, so we tried to capture this feeling, be it with a stand-alone bath or console basin.

'Add to this the limestone walls and floors, the subtle hand-painted colours of the English crafted Natural History tiles and the palette of colours from the Fired Earth paint range by Kevin McCloud and you have chic, smart and glamorous – the 'wow' factor she was after.'
